Watch: Fetterman says Santos expulsion should prompt removal of 'much more sinister' Menendez

Following the House of Representatives' Friday vote to expel Rep. George Santos (R-New York), Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) is now re-igniting calls to remove one of his Democratic colleagues from the US Senate.
During a Friday appearance on ABC's The View, Sen. Fetterman renewed calls to expel Sen. Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey), who is currently under federal indictment for allegedly taking bribes from the Egyptian government. His wife and three New Jersey businessmen were also included in that indictment. An update to that indictment also alleges that New Jersey's senior US senator was acting as an unregistered foreign agent on behalf of Egypt.
"[W]e have a colleague in the Senate that actually did much more sinister kinds of things," Fetterman said. "If you are going to expel Santos, how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate?"

"Santos' lies were almost kind of funny, you know like he landed on the moon and that kind of stuff," he continued. "Whereas you know, Menendez is kind of like a senator for Egypt, you know, not New Jersey. So I really think he needs to go."
As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Menendez is still able to attend highly classified intelligence briefings in spite of being an alleged foreign agent. Early last month, CNN congressional reporter Manu Raju confronted Menendez in a Senate hallway and asked him why he's still attending those briefings.
"You know, Manu, I know you've gotta make news. Bottom line is, I have my security credentials, and an accusation is just that. It's not proof of anything," Menendez said.
As of late September, more than half of the Senate Democratic Caucus had made public statements calling on Menendez to resign. Among those names are Sens. Gary Peters (D-Michigan), who chairs Democrats' US Senate campaign arm, and Sen. Cory Booker (D-New Jersey), who is the Garden State's junior senator. Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, who would appoint Menendez's replacement if he were to resign, has also called for the senator to vacate his seat.
