Any list which features an article on a self-promoting non-entity like Tavis Smiley at #2 isn't worth crap.

lovely fakeLeftist propaganda from the overclass

American fakeLeftism is all about racial politics, gender politics, lifestyle politics, foreign policy, foo-foo environmentalism, etc.

TrueLeftism, european-style leftism is about taxing the upper class, getting nuclear power, universal heatlhcare, vacation time, workers' rights, etc.

So to keep America from getting trueLeftism, the upper class funds fakeLeft nonprofits to publish fakeLeft propaganda like the above articles.

Dolan at #6- give me a break

Is this a joke? I don't know anything about the main subject, but the article is full of the kind of mindless barstool irish republicanism that the republicans involved in the political situation in Northern Ireland today would never utter. Its glorification of historical violence in Ireland would be laughable if it wasn't so offensive.

Regardless of whether the book reviewed is worth a damn (and I doubt it, given the reviewers love for it and his clear lack of any impartiality, or intelligence), the launguage used in that article is not acceptable.

Good thing these were "stories I missed in 2006", otherwise I'd be awfully damn pissed about the quality of this list. I guess it means I didn't miss much 2006? heh

This list of articles is idiotic, made up by children for children. When will alternet start treating its readers like adults and knock off all this main stream media top ten bullshit.

What a way to start off what should be a fantastic few years.

AlterNet, more and more you prove to be just like the rest of them.

Why can't you just be who are? Start beating the shit out of Republicans and everything they stand for, or you lose to CNN and the like.
