In the video to your right, the subversive minds behind Saturday Night Live's "TV Funhouse" segment, long the best part of the show, have put together an homage to the classic Schoolhouse Rock cartoons which slams the very network on which SNL appears as well as the other corporately controlled and therefore influenced TV stations. It's all very relevant in light of the planned purchase of Dow Jones by Rupert Murdoch. Check out the video to your right for more.

The Best Way to Learn is to Teach

What a brilliant way to capture the attention of the American public, animation! Somehow the levity of comedy breaks the ice between the truth and a complacent media society. I hope that this cartoon gets linked to every progressive site out there; I know I'll be putting it on mine. (an honorable mention here for 'The Simpsons' and 'Family Guy')

My question is, can we now extend the online movement into the physical world on a regular and profound basis to capture the attention of the masses that don't regularly pay attention. Unfortunately, I think nothing of significant consequence is going to change in American society unless the masses are motivated to action.

Personally, I'm trying to help bring the messages of progressive and peace community to the physical streets of America and the world so that people can link to these great online resources. I'd like to continue linking to any more of you folks out there with admirable intentions, energy, passion and persistence.

I also am interested in working with folks who think that it's time to resolve any tensions between, and create a visibly unified energy and more funding for, the various organizations in the peace and progressive movements.

Let's keep working together to motivate the masses in a sustainable way.

Peace,
SB

And why the conspiracy theory title? What exactly is the message here? That conspiracy tehories are all BS? Can't be, because it's true that the corporate media and the military industrial complex conspire to sell wars to the public to pad their bottom line. But then, as all responsible progressives know, Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK as the act of a lone nut, so that mention seems to be a dis against conspiracy theories that claim otherwise...

Also, as we know, Bush and his cronies were competent enough to steal two elections, invade two countries on false pretenses, make billions upon billions while castrating their opponents, and yet... and yet... they are too incompetent to have been involved in planning the demolition of the world trade center in order to make it look like the result of a terrorist attack. Not only would they never do something so evil, they would also not be capable of it! In other words, anyone who believes that there really are things that happen that your average person never is intended to find out about is a "kooky conpiracy theorist". So again, what exactly is the message here?

I should say that all the progressives I talk to are coming around to the need to include 9/11 in the list of crimes of the Bush admin and their neocon allies and cronies. they are sorely disappointed in the democrats AND in the so-called alternative press. It's just a matter of time before the irrelevance of sites like this and leftie icons like Bill maher, Amy Goodman, and Jon Stewart becomes apparent to even the most sheltered wannabe progressive. The 9/11 truth movement will succeed where the controlled antiwar movement failed. As a member of both, I assure you that it won't be long now.

The same amateurish, formulaic, cue-card-reading crap we've come to expect from SNL.

One of corporate media's biggest crimes is not putting that thing out of its misery after the original cast left.

What do you do when comedy lies?

I gotta say, I agree with everything in this video except for the title. Media conglomeration is not a conspiracy theory, its documented and public fact. Several companies do own almost all of the major media outlets, and they do collude to shape public perception to their interests. Calling it a conspiracy theory paints it as bullshit, which ironically makes the entire video one long lie.

But its comedy, so what do you do? To object is to piss in someone's cheerios. Notice that NBC/GE had no real objection to airing it. Of course, that proves that media conglomeration is all a big bullshit conspiracy theory, doesn't it? I think Stalin would have loved the elegence of this particular bit of propaganda.

And, as a previous post demonstrated, it only encourages the continuation of conspiracy theorism as a diversion from productive revolutionary activity.

WE WILL NEVER KNOW who killed JFK, or if the Bush Administration was involved or complicit in the 911 attacks. But we CAN and DO know that a handful of capitalists own the mainstream news media, just like we CAN and DO know that the Bush Administration illegally ordered the murder of a MILLION people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But much of the left is too busy obsessing on JFK, 911, and Amelia Earhart to do anything about it. That suits the Establishment Class just fine.

So, what is the next "Conspiracy Theory" for us to chuckle at? Slavery? The decimation of native americans? Global warming?
