Uggh. Does it get any more depraved than this? How about a flash grenade thrown at a flock of sheep standing by the road while a US Humvee passses by.

You can hear the soldiers laugh as a couple dozen stunned and deafened sheep deal with the consequences. I couldn't catch anything grisly, so there's no disclaimer...

"Our boys" in action

Everytime Israel or corporations want access to others' land or natural resources, ( usually to the pain and suffering of the "natives"), and the existing ruler doesn't want to play ball, they send in the CIA to subvert and kill to get what they want. Next, after a "false Flag attack on "our boys" they're sent in to murder in a country much too small to pose any real threat. The ones too smart to be duped into playing a role in it are dubbed by you drones as cowards who won't fight to defend their beloved country. The sick ones who were just looking for a reason to bully and murder are dubbed "heroes" who "served" our country.... fought for our freedom. This country of god-fearing christians is responsible for more mass murders in the name of justice and freedom than any other in the last 100 years and the powers that be just love it that way.
A nation of sheep, led by a cartel of whores, controlled by big business. Welcome to the real evil empire.

Maybe my eyesight is going - but isn't there a person in shot as the "soldiers" drive away from their brave and patriotic attack on terrorist sheep? Well, at least sheep don't fire back like the nasty-wasty insurgents. No wonder the British soldiers I talk to would rather shoot the Yanks than the Iraqis.

Sick and sickening.

These are the men and women we are trusting to (supposedly) defend our nation? These are the people we are entrusting with high powered weapons? These are the people we are trusting NOT to kill civilians and follow international law?

gee.. no wonder we've done such a poor job on all counts so far.

Exploding sheep?

Do our soldiers think exploding sheep is funny? This make me sick, and very angry. Killing innocent creatures in my name... How dare you!!! How very sad and sick I feel!!!!

So is this what happens when our military leaders, whom I hold responsible, employee criminals by relaxing the standards for enlistment?

Or is this what happens when our military leaders, whom I hold responsible, treat our soldiers as though they are expendable... by not giving them the training they need, or by not giving them the equipment they need, and therefore treat soldiers as they they don't matter, so they feel worthless and sick, which in turn, makes them feel like blowing stuff up?

I've read about other soldiers who have driven by Iraqis, and broken a glass bottle of the heads of people!!! How freaking sick! The army must be in hopeless need of soldier bodies to allow these kind of actions to take place. These soldiers need to be made an example of and expelled from the armed forces, some jailed. And their leaders court-martialed and/or impeached.

What is wrong with this country????? Oh yeah, I forgot, the real people responsible, the political leaders who lie to us and who bomb other countries with Depleted Uranium Bombs, which are WMDs, are a bunch of utopia-ists, thinking if we do this horrible thing, if we dominate like no other, then we will all be set. We'll be rich. We'll be safe. We'll be set, at least until global warming gets us.

Other countries see anything soldiers do as representing the United States, as they should, and repugnant acts will be told over and over and be added to other horrendous acts that soldiers do in our name. All I can say is... you bleeping idiots, you are creating more horrible acts to come in the future, by the disrespect you show to others in the present.

To get respect you have to show respect. So ashamed and so mad in Missouri.

out in front of your family. Which would you prefer? In order for Muslims to eat meat the animals are herded together and then slain by a specially blessed knife. Then they must 'bleed out' totally before they can be processed. This is done in front of the other frightened animals waiting their turn to bleed to death. Frankly, if I were a goat or sheep I might rather just be blown up then have some cleric chant to Allah whilst slitting my throat in front of my kids....

Ah, that made me laugh. Stupid sheep.

Cmon guys, it was a flash grenade, and those were sheep, the dumbest animals alive. They probably forgot it happened a few seconds later. My problem with that is that I think I could see a farmer or herder standing a few feet away from the sheep was they were driving away. Really bad PR that is, way to piss off more Iraqis. But still, I couldn't help but laugh.

ok, now i get it...hadda think for a minute.
see, that flash grenade was supplied by the qud force and we know this because double-dog secret sources say so.
and, c'mon, throwing grenades at shepherds and their flocks is obviously another skirmish in the war on christmas.
this hardly needs to be pointed out.

Seriously, I've been slowly converting to "moderate liberal" and sometimes I come to this site for you people just to fuck it up. "Does it get any more depraved than this?" YES, IT DOES! MUCH MORE SO IN FACT. Let's start with the waterbottle incident, then move onto brutality, then killing animals, then rape, then killing humans, etc. Those are things that our troops have sadly been accused of... and you're worry about THIS? Let's talk about who needs educated? Jesus... Christ. Our policy is failing, people are being beheaded, and all you can think about is a flashbang being thrown at a herd of sheep? The sheep didn't know the difference between this and lightening. Alternet is making a mockery of itself.

Wake up. These are fucking animals, that flashbang was 1/2 as scary as the slaughterhouse they eventually made way to.

where's the source on this? it's just kinda shoddy, news-wise.

tormenting animals is gross to me, regardless of how smart i think they are. (a leading bug scientist recently admitted that he no longer kills them at home!) but yeah, cruelty comes in degrees and we have too many competing cruelties vying for our outrage these days. it's dizzying, really. and can make for easy histrionics.

to the person above, don't stop being a liberal b/c of Internet grand-standing! (there's no escaping it, regardless of political orientation, unfortunately)

sorry for the formless ramble. i need more coffee!

I dont see why people are shocked by this. I mean I can understand the cruelty to the animals bit, but this type of behavior has been practiced all throughout human history. Its not uncommon for those who belive they have the power to destroy a 'lesser' persons property or livestock. When that serf rises up they earn a convient label of insurgent, terrorist, witch or what have you.

The US is no exception. If you bother to read the news, we can see this happens all the time. Property seizure for mere accusation (not conviction) of drug crimes and paramilitary assult forces serving warrants for non-violent offenses. How often do unanounced raids end up with the wrong address, an execution of an innocent person and pets, $1000s in property damage, and $millions lost in lawsuits? Too often for me to be a proud American.

then these fucknuts go and do this to 'win the hearts and minds.' no wonder we're ending up leaving ours on the side of the road, literally.

bad news: to meet quotas, they're lowering standards even more. could you imagine taking orders from a dumb fuck like this? no way! and it's gonna get worse.

my god, they haven't even shown us the results of the soldiers who've killed civilians! talk about inciting blowback....

i would like to see that, but alas, our media would rather talk about Jet Blue passengers, until Britney Spears blows a goat in a Modesto pasture...

I suppose it's a cultural thing.

Always amazes me that (most) Americans are raised to believe that they live in some sort of state-of-grace, above everyone else. "God bless America!"… and all that. So what are the rest of the world…untermensch?

So what else d'you expect? Most "grunts" are probably from the working class so they've been shat on from above most of their lives. This is their opportunity to feel superior. Learned behaviour. No independent thought. Machines.

Maybe there are American marines out there who actually feel ashamed by this but they'd probably be lynched by their "team-mates" if they said anything.

Can't you export a few more Bill Hicks or Kurt Vonneguts? Or even Watadas?

The flash grenades also exploded right next to the person tending the sheep

If you look carefully, you can see the person with the sheep, presumably a person tending the sheep, standing there just to the right of the group of sheep. This was a crime. It is impossible to know whether the eardrums were ruptured or if fragmentation injuries were incurred by the sheep or the person tending them.

There was, indeed, a shepherd standing next to those sheep. I don't have any doubts about how he felt about this "hilarious" incident.
This reminds me of stories my uncle, a Marine in Vietnam, used to tell me about fellow Marines he saw knocking Vietnamese off of their bikes with rifle butts, as they passed them on the road in their 5-tons.
I suspect we all know the effect that type of behavior had on "winning hearts and minds".

This is not Iraq. I'm not sure what country this is in, but there are no parts of Iraq that are this lush out in the countryside. I've been there, so I've got a little knowledge of its climate. It's called desert. While there are the occasional tropical trees, these are in the cities, where there is adequate water systems to support it.

Secondly, I'm ninety percent sure this is not a U.S. military vehicle. While I do not have a vast knowledge of every vehicle in the army, this vehicle does not fit the design of any travel vehicle in the U.S. military that I know of. The bolt markings are not near where a Humvee's are in an uparmored vehicle. Also, if you watch at about 8 seconds into the film, the camera pans around and shows the exterior of the vehicle which is unlike any travel-based vehicle in the U.S. military. It could be British, but that is just guesswork on my part, and should not be taken with any more than a grain of salt based on my expertise in British vehicles.

So basically, this is a video of some vehicle not of U.S. military make, dropping a pyrotechnic at a flock of sheep that not in Iraq at all.

Good job on producing propaganda which you have no knowledge of and probably got off of ebaum's world. Whoever did this is an asshole, nevertheless, but I would not be so quick to judge the whole military based upon a couple of schmucks who think it is funny to scare the crap out of innocent people.
