MSNBC's Scarborough Country added their two cents -- generously speaking -- to a recent study showing that Daily Show viewers are more cynical and have more negative perceptions of candidates than network news watchers.

Watching a clip from Scarborough Country [VIDEO] on the burning question -- no, not the flag one... -- of whether Jon Stewart is the ENEMY OF DEMOCRACY or not, I laughed. Big laugh.

It has the effect of watching 1950s footage of overweight people trying to jiggle away the extra pounds with a massive rubber band.

They've even brought in a heavy from the tinker-toy mag of the Rightwing, Newsmax.

Forget about the obvious problems with the study, discussed HERE, this is AWESOME. There's nothing more inspiring to young voters than stodgy talking heads blathering earnestly about whether something so patently innocuous to them is more dangerous than heroin or running with scissors.

Keep attacking Jon Stewart please.

BONUS: For those who read my original piece on Stewart and the astonishingly limited powers of analysis of WaPo columnist, Richard Morin, there's this post script from a day or two later:

"We're thrilled to have Rich Morin join the Pew Research Center... His wealth of knowledge, as well as his ability to take complex data and translate it into compelling writing, will aid the Pew Research Center in its mission to help the press, the public and policymakers understand the important trends shaping America and the world."

Hey, Jon Stuart/The Daily Show are getting under the skin of the right-wing "pundits" WONDERFUL! The "blues" are making some headway. If we can curb the cheating at the voting places we might have a chance. Keep the faith.

I thought I had gone crazy when I heard Scarborough this AM (first of call b/c I let him on my TV for more than the .4 seconds necessary to change channels to something important - like flyfishing in Canada). They attacked Stewart b/c he caused people to be cynical about government, especially in its current form. Which means of course, that Stewart is simply exposing the utter bankruptcy, nihilism, and pure evil of that bunch of pig-fuck baboons - he shows them to by hypocrites, liars, thieves, and manipulators. Well, that is a GOOD thing - b/c maybe that will defeat the blank acceptance and cause people to fight back. But of course the Republican establishment cannot stand that idea - Stewart is not promoting their idea that people should just let the rich theocrats run things into the ground - so he is the "enemy of democracy and the cause of cynicism." No, fuckheads, the Republicans are the enemies of democracy and the causes of cynicism - and they fear what might happen if people finally say enough, so they have to promote ignorance and resignation to authority. Not that the Dems are much better, but there is at least some room there for conscientous politics - there is no such room in the GOP - Grand Oligarchs Party - or as I refer to them, the American Fascist Party.

Is it any wonder that America is in trouble? President Bush claims that there is a crisis in our educational system. Not math or science as is commonly believed... it is in logic and critical thinking.

Does Jon Stewart make people cynical, or are cynical people more likely to watch Jon Stewart?

God, I am so tired of idots being passed off as intelligent pundits with an opinion worth listening too!!!!
