On Meet the Press, host Tom Brokaw informed guest Joe Lieberman (I-CT) that nearly 50,000 activists have signed onto the "Lieberman Must Go" petition being circulated by Brave New Films. "Do you think you're going to be comfortable next year in the Democratic caucus?" Brokaw asked. Lieberman said he's crossed party lines to support John McCain because "this is no ordinary time."

Brokaw followed-up by asking if that means he will speak at the Republican convention. Lieberman practically confirmed that he would indeed speak. After stating that no decision has been made, Lieberman went on to say:

If Sen. McCain feels that I can help his candidacy ... I will do it. But I assure you this Tom, I'm not going to go to that convention -- the Republican convention -- and spend my time attacking Barack Obama. I'm going to go there really talking about why I support John McCain and why I hope a lot of other independents and Democrats will do that.

And frankly, I'm going to go to a partisan convention and tell them -- if I go -- why it's so important that we start to act like Americans and not as partisan mud-slingers.

Brokaw said "it sounds like you're going to go." Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) added, "It looks like that to me too." Watch it:

Later in the roundtable segment, Andrea Mitchell said the "good money" is that Lieberman would deliver the keynote address at the RNC Convention.

By speaking at the convention, Lieberman will be implicitly endorsing policy positions he claims to be against -- such as Social Security privatization and limiting a woman's right to choose -- while undermining support for progressive reforms that he claims to support like comprehensive immigration reform and a cap-and-trade system to combat climate change.

Drop-ship his defective, deceitful ass in the sands of Iraq - he can walk the pipeline to Israel.

Lieberman continues to mistake contrarianism for morality

Joe Lieberman thinks he is this great moral leader because he is constantly going against the grain. Being oppositional is not the same thing as being moral. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. More often than not, for a senator, going against the grain of public opinion is simply contempt for democracy.

The idea that Clinton's sexual behavior (considered by a majority to be unimportant) was worthy of Lieberman's moralizing... while Bush's torture, lies, and love of violence (considered by a majority to be grounds for impeachment) is not... exactly what are Lieberman's standards, other than to simply take whatever position is directly opposite to the opinion of the majority of Americans?

I still think that Joe Liarman sabotaged the Gore campaign from within, possibly on purpose. I blame the traitor for the fact that Bush is president.
Good, let him speak to the Repugnantcans. He's a Republican too, pure and simple. Whom I blame for any evil that he gets away with are the Democrats who refuse to eject him from the Democratic caucus. Otherwise, Liarman would be nothing more than a crazy shit-eating Republican, like so many others already are.

Hopefully the Dems will pick up enough seats in the Senate in the upcoming election to be able to Throw him out . He was afterall elected as an Independent and owes his election to Republicans who refused to vote for their own Party's canidate

Let him go

He's finally off the fence and firmly where he belongs. He's been a Republican 'plant' all along.

Let him go. I can't imagine that he's going to help John McCain very much, but if his ego tells him he can be of use to McCain, at least he'll be off our hands at last and maybe the Democrats in Congress will stop bowing to his hawkish threats.

Imagine... he was once Al Gore's running mate. I have often wondered if he was the backup plan -- in case the 'Great Election Theft 2000' somehow failed.

Sam Seder, Air America had it right when named him Lie berman...

Let's just hope that the same people who helped to select him to run along with Al Gore aren't helping Barack Obama select his running mate. Joe Lieberman is a fool who thinks he knows a whole lot more than he does. He's gotta be the poster child for 'panderer'. He needs to be kicked out of the Democratic Party.
